“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord…. When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’     Matthew 25: 37-40 (NIV)

Jesus, in the passage above, makes it clear that caring for the needs of those who are hurting is one of the visible signs that a person has truly begun to follow Him. Each and every Christian is responsible for caring for those within his or her circle of influence who fall on difficult times.

But in a large church, it is easy for people to walk in and out, without ever really connecting to another person or group of people. This leaves them disconnected from their church family, and potentially alone when difficulties come.

At GNG, the best and most effective way to be cared for is by joining a LIFE Group or Ministry Group. In these groups, relationships are developed, needs get met, and true connection is experienced. This is why we refer to these groups as the “best care available” at GNG.  But there are those who fall into some challenging situations who are not yet connected to one of those groups.

That’s why GNG created the Visits Team – to help connect people to the best care available at GNG.

The GNG Visits Team is a group of volunteers who are able and willing to visit members of the GNG congregation who are in the hospital, nursing home, or in their own home. The team will focus primarily on individuals who are not currently connected to a LIFE Group or GNG Ministry Group. The individual in need (or a direct family member – spouse, parent, child) must initiate the visit request.

The goal of these visits is to provide comfort, encouragement, and a sense of belonging to the individual who is in a difficult situation. The Visits Team is not designed to provide counseling or to address major theological issues. This is a team that provides a caring, prayerful experience for people who are in need.

The Visit Team is not designed to be a replacement for individual Christians caring for and visiting people within their sphere of influence. Nor is this a team designed to take on the task of sharing the gospel with your friend or family member.

If you would like to submit a Visit request, you may do so by filling out the Communication Card during our Sunday services, emailing the request to info@goodnewsgathering.org, or by calling 937.393.5383.
